What We're Up To...of the day #1

Liz working on the first wreath for Squirrel Creek Creations
Medium Blue and Silver
Greetings!
Today at Squirrel Creek Creations HQ, Lynn and Liz (me) will be working on Spring/Easter wreaths! Some will feature dried flowers for a Spring feel, white others will have Easter eggs and more pastel colors. Originally today was supposed to be a snow day since the weatherman predicted 6-8" of snow. However we only got about an inch, which promptly turned to horribly messy slush. The flooding is becoming worrisome. Yet we set today aside to get some work done so that's what we'll do! I'll make sure to get some progress shots and upload them tomorrow.
While working, you can bet that there'll be Christmas music playing merrily in the background. Some of us at SCC are just nutty about Christmas music, and since we had it playing all winter while making wreaths, why not carry it into the Spring? After all, with such a sad little winter almost done and gone, we can still take the time to slow down and enjoy it. Even if there's only one inch of snow and troublesome flooding.

Etsy Feature of the Day #1 Among the Ruins

Among the Ruins on Etsy
It's easy to get lost in a sea of jewelry when at craft fairs or scouring the internet. But if you want a stunning piece to adorn yourself with, look no further than the diverse and unique creations of Among the Ruins on Etsy. Among the Ruins captures the essence of the Steampunk phenomenon in her lovely yet industrial designs. Among the ruins doesn't exclusively work in Steampunk, there are also simple and beautiful earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. This is what she has to say about her work:
"I love to create using old things. I love Steampunk, a mixture of Victorian style and mechanical things like watches, keys and locks. Whenever possible I use old jewelry, antique watch parts, skeleton keys, and anything else I can find along the way! I also love working with wire, so you will find lots of metalwork designs in my shop. I love to create custom pieces. Contact me and I'll do my best to create something just for you! I pride myself on providing excellent customer service and the highest standard of quality that I am capable of producing in my jewelry designs."

The Introduction Post

Shimmering Red and Gold Holiday Wreath
Greetings! Let's kick off this blog with a basic introduction. My name is Liz and I'm the youngest member of Squirrel Creek Creations. Squirrel Creek Creations, or SCC was created by my family members last year as a way to share our various artistic talents with the world. We're all creative in different ways (and I mean everyone, you too) and to stifle that part of us is to deny a very important part of who we are. So after many creative years, we've decided to create SCC and to start selling on Etsy, as well as at various  local Art/Craft fairs. So far, SCC has mainly featured the Holiday and festive wreaths created by my mom and I. As the weather gets nicer, we'll start adding woodworking to the mix. After we find a decent local printer, Photo prints, illustrations, and paintings will be added as well.

I'll try to keep these brief, and in the future, have the other various members of SCC blog their thoughts as well. You can also follow our Wreath of the Day on our Twitter account. @SquirrelsCreek

We'll have contests, works in progress, coupons, Sale notifications, lots of pictures, and much much more! Not to mention features of some of our favorite fellow Etsy members, so check back often because you'll never know what nutty business we'll be up to next.
